Welcome to the Center of Excellence in Information Systems

Pictured above is the Fairborn Observatory and its two meter automated spectroscopic telescope. This telescope is maintained and operated by TSU staff to collect invaluable astronomical data.

The Center of Excellence in Information Systems at Tennessee State University is a multidisciplinary research laboratory founded in 1986 as part of the state-wide Centers of Excellence program to increase the amount of research being done at state universities across Tennessee. The Center consists of researchers, support staff, and students in the areas of astronomy with automated telescopes, advanced control systems and systems identification, applied mathematics, and management information systems. Graduate and undergraduate students are drawn from the computer science, physics, mathematics, and engineering curricula. The Center is located on the second floor of the Research and Sponsored Programs building on the main campus.
