Configuration

The NASA Network Resource Training Site (NRTS) project has made it possible for Tennessee State University to enhance its internet connectivity with improved communications equipment and a server.

A T1 connection has been established, which is provided by MCI under contract with GTE, the Internet Service Provider (ISP), in coordination with the Tennessee Board of Regents. Along with the required CSU/DSU, a Cisco 2501 router is used for the T1 connection. Hubs have been purchased so that personal computers are easily attached to the network by connecting to the hubs via 10-baseT cables. The entire area in the Center of Excellence (COE) where the NRTS project is housed has been cabled for both LAN and internet connectivity.

The internet/web server is a Dell Pentium PowerEdge 2100/200 with 64KB of memory and a 4 gigabyte disk, running WinNT 4.0 and Microsoft's Internet Information Server. This node also acts as the mail server for the Center of Excellence.
