| History Established 1866, Named for General Clinton B. Fisk to provide education of the
Highest standards, not of Negro education, but for American education at its best. In 1871
the Jubliee Singers were organized to raise money to save Fisk. Mission accomplished and
Jubliee Hall was also built with funds from the tour. Fisks firsts among Black
Universities:
- 1930 accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools,
- 1933 approved list of Association of American
Universities,
- 1846 approved by American Association of University
Women,
- 1952 Accepted for a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa,
- accepted for chapter Mortar Board
